This is the FEA team’s translation of Francois Baucher’s 1874 edition of "Méthode d'équitation basée sur de nouveaux principes". This is a comprehensive presentation of the work of Baucher, one of France's most respected horse trainers, who was both revered and reviled in his life time. The controversy continues into present day yet very few riders (even those with very strong opinions) have ever read the actual words of the master.
For a rider interested in classical training, regardless of the lineage you follow, Baucher is a "must read". The 1874 edition is the most comprehensive, as it is the last that Baucher made, completed just before his death in 1873. And this uniquely authoritative translation, presented not by an historian but by a practicing classical trainer and his team, makes this truly a "rider's translation" of this fascinating material.
